Official Club calendar 2024 – March photo
During 2024 we are presenting the image from the Club calendar for that month in the newsletter, with some details about the picture, including when and where the photo was taken.
This month we feature the stunning photo for March, which was entered into the calendar competition by Club member Rod Holme.
He tells us: “The image of BBMF Spitfire Mk IX MK356 leading the display Typhoon, ‘Blackjack’, in close line-astern formation was taken at the Southport Airshow in July 2022 on my Canon EOS 7D Mk II with a 100-400L Mk II lens. It was shot at 1/250s at F8 and at 300mm. If the weather is good then the lighting at Southport can be fantastic and, on this day, it was glorious sunshine and blue skies. That means that the sun reflects off the Southport sands and helps to light up the aircraft undersides. I do love a centreline shot too, so to line up the Typhoon, the Spitfire and get the prop blur symmetrical as well was quite special!”
