Club ballot prizes and winners April to June 2025
All members of the RAF Memorial Flight Official Club are automatically entered into our monthly prize draws to win some special prizes. There have been some marvellous prizes won by Club members from April to June 2025. These were the ballot prizes and the lucky Club members who won them.
April: An internal tour of BBMF Lancaster PA474
In April the prize was a ‘money cannot buy it’ chance of a lifetime opportunity to experience what it is like inside BBMF Lancaster PA474, which is very representative of operational wartime Lancasters, with the exception of having dual controls. The prize winner can bring up to two guests to share in this special and rare experience and to take photographs. The prize winner and guests get to climb into BBMF Lancaster PA474 and make their way up through the cramped interior to the cockpit, with a BBMF guide to explain everything.
Winner: Andrew Scoley from Lincolnshire
May: Tickets to the Battle Proms Vintage Spectaculars 2025
The ballot prize for May saw three lucky Club members each win a pair of tickets to this year’s Battle Proms. The Battle Proms are bigger and better than ever this year. Alongside the breathtaking displays the Proms are famous for – uplifting music, fireworks, Spitfire, cannon, cavalry, parachutes – this year a Vintage Spectacular will celebrate the VE Day 80th anniversary in style. The arenas will revive the nostalgia of a bygone era with fascinating WWII living history displays led by the country’s foremost wartime enthusiasts, with authentic vintage vehicles, memorabilia and expert re-enactors; what better way to mark this special anniversary year. A breathtaking orchestral programme will include iconic pieces from film, TV and the musicals, alongside uplifting classical music, including Holst’s Jupiter accompanied by an aerial display from the legendary Grace Spitfire; the 1812 Overture and Beethoven’s 'Battle Symphony' complete with 200 live firing cannon; themes from The Great Escape and 633 Squadron; much-loved operatic arias from superstar soprano Denise Leigh, and all closing with a jubilant flag-waving, sing-along finale with all the traditional proms favourites like Jerusalem, Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and more under a sky of dazzling fireworks.
Winners:
David Guest from Essex
Alan Morgan from Surrey
John Millican from Essex
June: A framed limited edition Dambusters coin
The June ballot prize was a special limited edition £5 Dambusters coin, framed with a certificate of authenticity and numbered 553 of a run of only 617 ever made. Worth £35, the coin is no longer available to buy from The Westminster Collection and, to add to its collectability, the coin has travelled on board Lancaster NX611 ‘Just Jane’ during a taxy run at East Kirkby. The item has been approved by Buckingham Palace and issued in partnership with the RAF.
Many thanks to Club member Robert James Smith for kindly donating this prize.
Winner: Diane Ede from Essex
